The most accessible of the southern parks, reached by a good tarmac road from Dar es Salaam, which makes it a realistic two-day trip from the city. The Mkata floodplain delivers dependable elephant, giraffe, zebra and buffalo, and the hippo pools along the main circuit are a reliable stop.
