When the Zanzibar Channel is churning, the 20-minute hop beats a two-hour ferry every time. Flight Link shuttles between Dar es Salaam's Terminal 1 and Zanzibar several times a day on small turboprops, serving tourists, commuters and air-freight mangoes alike. Views of the dhows and sandbanks below are excellent on the left side heading out. It is also the fastest way back to the mainland to catch an international connection from DAR.

Good to know
Watch the 20 kg baggage limit; dive gear and surfboards need prior arrangement. Terminal 1 is the old domestic building a few hundred metres from the main international terminal - allow time to move between them.
